I am Jon Merrifield, founder of the Forbes-recommended Pure Podcasting. I have edited more than 3,000 episodes since 2017 for clients including The Lancet, Gousto, Eurosport and Warner Bros, and bring over 20 years as an audio engineer and music producer.
Every recorded life story is edited by me, by ear, with complete discretion. In a life story, a pause is often the moment, so that judgement is never left to software.

Which package should I choose?
If your loved one is happy to chat with family at home, or would rather write their memories down, choose Home Story. If you would like me to guide the conversation with a gentle interview and handle everything, choose Full Story. For a keepsake to hold as well as hear, the Legacy Collection adds a hardback book of their interview, in their own words.
How is this different from a written memoir service?
Written memoir services, such as Storyworth, send weekly questions and print the answers as a book. A life story podcast keeps something a book cannot: their real voice, their laugh and the way they tell a story. If you would like both, the Legacy Collection gives you the audio memoir and a hardback book of their interview, with QR codes so every chapter can be heard as well as read.
How do I record my parent’s life story if they’re not technical?
A phone in a quiet room is enough with my recording guide. With Full Story or the Legacy Collection, I interview them by phone or video call and handle everything else.
If they write their memories, who narrates them?
Written memories are narrated by a high-quality AI voice, so your loved one never needs to record anything. Their words are kept as their own, and I produce the finished story with music and chapters. If you would prefer to hear their real voice, they can record a conversation instead, or choose Full Story.
What is in the Legacy Collection book?
Their interview is transcribed and gently edited into a hardback book, so the story reads in their own words. It has a unique cover designed just for them, and each chapter includes a QR code so the family can scan it and hear their voice telling that part of the story.
What happens after I order?
With Full Story and the Legacy Collection, you will be taken straight to my calendar to book your planning call. With Home Story, you will receive your recording guide and question booklet by email. Either way, I am in touch personally within 24 hours.
How does gifting work?
At checkout, add their name and yours. A personalised, framed gift certificate is then printed and posted to the address you choose, ready to give. The recording or writing can take place whenever suits the person receiving it.
How long does it take?
Framed gift certificates usually arrive within about a week. Most audio stories are delivered within a few weeks of recording or receiving the written memories, and Legacy Collection books take a little longer to design and print. If you have a special date in mind, let me know and I will plan around it.
Are the stories kept private?
Always. Everything is handled confidentially, never shared or published, and delivered as a private podcast that only your family can access.
Do you work outside the UK?
Yes. Everything is done remotely, so I work with families across the UK, the US and beyond.
